No, really. Paula Abdul was considered hot once. Ask your parents. Before she became the Vicodin-addled angel on Simon Cowell's shoulder on American Idol, she was a Laker Girl, an in-demand choreographer, and Hollywood's most prominent crypto-Jew. Generally assumed to be Arab due to her last name, Abdul is the daughter of a Halabi, a member of Syria's tight-knit Sephardic Jewish community, who like many other Syrian-Lebanese Jews migrated to South America (her mother, on the other hand, is plain ol' Canadian Jewish). She proudly reps her heritage, and was even invited to visit Israel during Chanukah by the country's minister of tourism - an invitation she tearfully accepted, although apparently did not actually follow up on. Probably too busy boogieing the night away with infamous animated duet partner MC Skat Kat.
