Mais de 3.500 agentes foram chamados para reforçar a segurança em Israel após onda de ataques no país

Jerusalém (TPS) - Perante o cenário de uma onda de ataques terroristas em todo Israel, o primeiro-ministro Netanyahu pediu apoio de oficiais de segurança máxima para reforçar as unidades policiais em Jerusalém e em todo o país nesse último fim de semana. O reforço soma mais de 3500 agentes.

Netanyahu explicou que ordenou a mobilização da polícia das fronteiras a fim de restaurar a ordem e a segurança de Jerusalém e de todo o país. "Vamos continuar a fazer tudo que é necessário", assegurou.

Até agora, Netanyahu autorizou a mobilização de treze unidades policiais da fronteira, além das três que já haviam sido mobilizadas. O superintendente da polícia Micky Rosenfeld falou com a Agência TPS sobre as medidas adotadas pela polícia de Israel.

"No geral, o que eu posso confirmar é que a decisão foi tomada a fim de reforçar e aumentar ainda mais a segurança tanto em Jerusalém como nos diferentes bairros árabe-israelenses, como na Cidade Velha. Esta é uma precaução tomada para evitar que novos ataques aconteçam", explicou Rosenfeld. Ele também disse que equipes de busca estarão ao redor de Jerusalém e outras áreas para realizarem medidas de segurança, intensificar patrulhas e responder em pontos vitais que estão sensíveis no momento. Ele informou que 3.500 policiais foram mobilizados em toda Jerusalém.

Rosenfeld também destacou outros motins em outras partes do país no fim de semana, como em Nazaré e em Ramla. "Diferentes unidades responderam aos distúrbios e motins que ocorreram, que de um lado eram manifestações ilegais e do outro eram tumultos em escala real", explicou.

Rosenfeld ressaltou que as unidades policiais não utilizaram quaisquer armas letais em sua contenção de distúrbios públicos no fim de semana. "Nossas unidades policiais usaram apenas armas não-letais para dispersar os manifestantes, principalmente em Nazaré, onde tivemos que lidar com isso.", disse Rosenfeld.

Over 3,500 Israeli Police Officers Deployed Across Jerusalem to Bolster Security By Jonathan Benedek

JERUSALEM (TPS) - Against the backdrop of a surge in terror attacks throughout Israel, Prime Minister Netanyahu has asked top security officials over the weekend to reinforce police units in Jerusalem and throughout the rest of the country.

"I have ordered the mobilization of Border Police companies in order to restore security and order in Jerusalem and around the country," said Netanyahu. "We will continue to do all that is necessary."

So far, Netanyahu has authorized the mobilization of thirteen border police units in addition to three units, which were already mobilized. Police Superintendent Micky Rosenfeld spoke with TPS about these recent security measures adopted by Israel's police.

"In general, what I can confirm is that the decision was made in order to basically tighten security and boost up security even further both in Jerusalem and the different Israeli-Arab neighborhoods as well as in the Old City," Rosenfeld stated to TPS. "That's a precaution being taken to prevent further attacks from taking place."

"Search teams will be in and around Jerusalem and the different areas to carry out security measures, step up patrols, and to respond in vital points and vital spots that are very sensitive at the moment," Rosenfeld continued. Rosenfeld told TPS that a total of 3,500 police officers have been deployed throughout Jerusalem.

Rosenfeld also referred to public disturbances in other parts of the country over the weekend. "We dealt with disturbances last night in Nazareth and in Ramlea as well," Rosenfeld added. "Different units responded to the disturbances and the riots that took place which were on one hand they were illegal demonstrations and on the other hand they were full scale riots."

Rosenfeld stressed that police units did not use any lethal weapons in their containment of public disturbances over the weekend. "Our police units used only non-lethal weapons to disperse rioters, mainly in Nazareth where we had to deal with that," Rosenfeld said.
