There were some rumblings of disagreement on the Internet after Gal Gadot was cast to play Wonder Woman in the new Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, but the Israeli actress was greeted with screams and applause when she stepped onto the stage at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday.
The actress joined Ben Affleck (who plays Batman) and Superman Henry Cavill to preview a 20-second sneak peek at the film, which is currently shooting.
The footage showed Batman ripping the covering off his Bat signal and powering it up. When the light hits the night sky, Superman appears, hovering with red glowing eyes. The pair then glare at each other menacingly.
In a first look at Gadot, 29, as Wonder Woman, the former Miss Israel, best known for her roles in the Fast and Furious films, wields a mighty sword, and the character's iconic red-white-and-blue outfit has been replaced by a grittier ensemble that resembles leather armor. (The Lasso of Truth is still there, though.)
"I'm ready… are you?" Gadot wrote as she shared the pic on Twitter.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is due for release in 2016.
