Yasmin Levy brings Ladino

Ladino is the language of the Jewish people of Spanish origin who were kicked out of Spain in 1492 by the Catholic rulers Isabella and Ferdinand. They continued to speak Ladino, also known as Judeo-Spanish, in the countries to which they emigrated but the language became mixed with other languages depending on where they went.

A beautiful singer who celebrates this heritage will perform in Chicago tonight at the Old Town School of Folk Music. Her name is Yasmin Levy and she is from Israel.

Her latest album "Sentir" means to feel and you can't help but feel a powerful emotion when you hear her music that is reminiscent of flamenco. Check out this video below about the making of her latest album. Her history and music is one that we all should know more about.
