Singer, dancer, choreographer and celebrity judge Paula Abdul is coming to Israel this week as a guest of the Tourism Ministry.
Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported Monday that the pop star was planning to celebrate her bat mitzvah at the Western Wall during her visit, nearly four decades after the traditional age of 12.
During her first visit to the country, the Grammy and Emmy winner is scheduled to meet with Tourism Minister Uzi Landau to discuss the many facets of Israeli culture in which she takes an interest – the modern, effervescent, innovative Israel alongside the multicultural historic land.
Abdul, who was born in Los Angeles, California to Jewish parents, began her career as young as age 8. She worked as an in-demand choreographer, working on music videos with top tier artists like Janet Jackson and others. She later launched a solo singing career and enjoyed a lot of success.
In recent years, Abdul was best known for her work on television talent shows as a judge on the American Idol and X Factor panels.
Meanwhile, according to Entertainmentwise.com, Abdul's fellow judge on American Idol and the X Factor, Simon Cowell, is preparing for his wedding to Jewish girlfriend Lauren Silverman by taking Israeli dancing lessons. According to the report, Cowell has agreed to have a Jewish wedding when he ties the knot with Silverman, who will soon give birth to his child.
