Israeli actress Moran Atias has been cast for the new series Tyrant, to be aired on American cable and the satellite channel FX. According to Deadline, the plot will be centered on an American family “drawn into the working of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation.” Atias will be playing Leila, the beautiful wife of Jamal, the older brother of main character Barry.
The heavily anticipated show was developed by Howard Gordon and Israeli Gideon Raft, the creators of the hit series Homeland. Tyrant is being filmed in Morocco and will be directed by David Yates.
Atias, of Moroccan Jewish descent, has established herself in the modeling industry as a model for D&G, Roberto Cavalli and a spokesperson for Bonita de Mas lingerie company.
She began acting at age 15 on an Israeli youth show Out of Focus, and has since expanded her acting career into the international arena. Her upcoming movie Third Person, in which she stars aside Mila Kunis, is set to be released this year.
