AMIA |
The first AMIA, Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina, or Israeli Argentine Benefit Society, dates back to 1894. One hundred years later, its headquarters on Pasteur Street suffered from a bombing attack in which 85 people were killed and hundreds injured, making it Argentina’s deadliest terrorist attack. Hezbollah and Iran were said to have been behind the attacks, though no groups or individuals were convicted.
