Growing up in the USSR she moved with her family to New York, where she attended the uber-Jewish Frisch School before joining the ranks of a thousand other singers looking for a gig in the city. With a voice as sweet as tzimmes and a body that should make radio ashamed of itself for only transmitting sound waves, Spektor quickly stood out, breaking into true stardom in 2006 with her hit "Fidelity."
